OIL ENGINEER

Introduction
Indonesia oil engineer is oriented to be able to fulfill the need of oil industry for mining field, oil, natural gas and geothermal. Hence the oil education institution determine to produce the bachelor with qualification as oil and natural gas expert and geothermal expert, which expected to have:

1. basic skill on oil, natural gas and geothermal exploitation
2. Personal integrity, professional, independent, entrepreneurship completed with sense of humanity and profession ethics.
3. Expertise in oil, natural gas and geothermal exploitation and have ability in analyzing, formulating and problem solving based based technical and geo-design principles in reservoir, drilling, well complexity, fluid production and enhance oil recover, yet take� info account the project management and economics, occupational safety and health; and risk management.

Competency
The standard competency for oil and natural Gas Expert and Geothermal are set up by considering :
Criteria for accreditation engineering program done by accreditation board for engineering and technology, as grouped into six categories:

1. Drilling expertise
2. Production expert
3. Reservoir expert
4. Formation expert
5. Geothermal expert
6. Economic expert

The scope activities during school covers exploration and exploitation activities which consist of planning and implementation of the discovery, production and transportation of the oil, natural gas and geothermal. The alumni are expected to be able to forecast the quality of oil, natural gas and geothermal sources and plan the implementation of reservoir technique, production technique, formation and economic evaluation; as well as carry out the geothermal exploitation. To be able to gain a bachelor degree, a student has to pass both the compulsory and optional subjects whichs cover 146 credits semesters.

 

Job competency
To obtain a recognition as oil and natural gas expert and geothermal expert, a bachelor need to pass a test held by cepu education and training centre for oil, natural gas and geothermal, an institution under education and training board for energy and natural mineral resources, ministry of energy and natural mineral resources, established in 4 june 1966.
