CAREGIVERS AND NURSES

Introduction
Nursing education and training system in Indonesia have been changing and improving significantly. This changing has affected both in improvement of health nursing care and the increasing of the number of the institution.
However, recently, Indonesia has over supplied its nurses and caregivers since most of the worker are willing more to work abroad. The high demand of these two kinds of occupation comes from developed country, in Europe, America and Australia regions whose young people have lesser motivation to become caregiver or nurse, while on the other hand demand for such workers are remain high due to better health quality and longer life expectancy of the population. While in Indonesia, the remain high employability of such occupancy has attracted young people to become nurse, which even caused booming during 1996 to 2003 which recorded as much as 643.374 students joining nursing school spread out in Indonesia. These numbers is heaven higher if we include those who attended Bachelor and Master Degree in Nursing.
Indonesia has experienced sending nurses and caregivers to various countries, namely Britain, Norway, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, United States, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Taiwan, Singapore and Australia.
Japan is another prospective country that has shown its interest to employ Indonesian caregivers and nurses. Under UEPA scheme, Indonesia will send the worker for 2 years contract respectively.

Education System of Nurse and Caregiver

• General

there are two kinds of Qualification in the Educational Nursing System in Indonesia, namely caregiver level which consists of Nurse Practitioner and Nurse assistantn and Nurse level, graduated from Nursing Academy, as well as bachelor and Master Degree.

• Academy of Nursing (3 years after graduating from high school)

• prepare urine and faeces for laboratory testing including glucose testing
• bath patient on bed
• assisting patient bathing in the bathroom
• dressing the patient

• Assist patient to vomit
• Manicure / pedicure
• Wound care
• Volva and perineum hygiene
• Breast care
• Patient feeding
• Prepare menu for patient with diet program
• Assist patient to defecate in bed

• Prepare and put on wind pillow
• Measure height and weight
• Assist patient to apply warm compress
• Assist patient to pray
• Assists to bath dead body
• First aid to stiff person, unconscious, cold, injury, nosebleed and passion of food
• Basic life support
• Provide medicine orraly
• Assists patient with liquid balanced
• Assists patient to take medicine
• Measure and note urine in - out put 24 hours
• Prevent physical safety as injury and fall

Licence for nurse is issued by provincial and regional health Office, which endorsed by Decree of Ministry of Health No. 1239/2001. to obtain license, a nurse should pass both administration requirement and national test, which ruled by National law No. 20/2003 on Educational System and Decree of Minister of Health No. 0677/2001

Conclusion
With the current condition of caregivers, nurses, training and education system of nursing, Indonesia has ready to implement to place caregivers and nurses to work in japan. For the matter, Indonesia need joint venture to establish further discussion about criteria of caregivers and nurse will be placed in japan. Other matter need to be discussed are the procedure workings conditions, subjects of curriculum training and other important things related to this project . finally Indonesia is ready to be visited by overseas institution / hospital to see facilities, curriculum of training and nursing education and other condition of caregivers and nurses in Indonesia.
